EMSL Anaerobic Microbial Phenotyping Platform (AMP2) Science Workshop

May 13-14, 2025

Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory, Richland, WA (on the campus of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory)

The Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL) is holding a two-day workshop to explore and shape the future of EMSL's upcoming Anaerobic Microbial Phenotyping Platform (AMP2). This platform is designed to accelerate advancements in anaerobic microbiology research.

Researchers from academia, national laboratories, and industry, who are experts in the fields of microbiology, anaerobic biological processes, synthetic biology, biological modeling, and biotechnology, are encouraged to attend.

Workshop Goals:

  • Collaborate with the anaerobic microbiology research community to select and prioritize microbial candidates and associated research challenges for AMP2.
  • Ensure the initial experiments on the AMP2 platform meet the needs of the Department of Energy, Office of Science, Biological and Environmental Research (BER) program, as well as the broader microbiology research community.

Through collaborative discussions and networking opportunities, this workshop aims to harness diverse expertise to advance microbial research and applications critical to ecological and industrial contexts.

The mission of the BER program is to support transformative science and scientific user facilities to achieve a predictive understanding of complex biological, earth, and environmental systems for energy and infrastructure security, independence, and prosperity.
