The Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL)'s synthetic habitat capability, Terraforms, has a new upgrade—Pore2Chip.

This Python tool helps with the design of micromodels and RhizoChips using x-ray computed tomography's three-dimensional (3D) imaging of field soil cores. This upgrade will accelerate ModEx workflows informed by soil datasets.

The webinar will include:

  • Erin Rooney, a U.S. Department of Agriculture research scientist, will give an introduction to TerraForms and why Pore2Chip is an important upgrade for researchers
  • Aramy Truong, an EMSL post bachelors research associate, will walk through how to build TerraForms from 3D images of soil cores
  • Maruti Mudunuru, an Earth scientist with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, will discuss the future vision of ModeEx workflows informed by soil datasets
