Spatially resolved measurements, crucial for understanding ecosystem responses to perturbations, are limited by insufficient integration across imaging modalities and manual data processing. To explain larger-scale phenomena using 2-D and 3-D chemical and morphological imaging, a visionary plan is needed to deeply understand microscale processes and inform modeling across scales.

This workshop focuses on how to integrate microstructural and microscale chemical information using multiple techniques, and implementing such data in Earth system model development. The session will discuss challenges related to data extraction, classification, and operability, with the aim of correlating and scaling data for database and modeling applications.
