Hydrogen Production - (Steam reforming of Biomass Scope 46621)

EMSL Project ID
17504

Abstract

The work on this task will focus on steam reforming of ethanol for the direct production of H2 and CO2. This work addresses the following tasks of the Hydrogen, Fuel Cells & Infrastructure Technologies Program Multi-Year Research, Development and Demonstration Plan: Task 1: Distributed Production Feedstock Options: Task 3: Advanced Distributed Hydrogen Production Tasks 5 and 6: Cost Reduction of Pyrolysis Technologies or Biomass Gasification Task 8: Advanced Biomass Reforming Assumptions: Steam reforming catalysts suitable for converting ethanol in a microchannel reactor will be developed with particular emphasis on activity, selectivity, and catalyst life. We will develop microchannel-based reformer technology for the proposed system in parallel with catalyst development.
