TGA Analysis of Synthesized Organic Components of Self-assempbled Monolayers on Mesoporous Silica.

Abstract

Nanostructured materials, such as mesoporous silica, may be imparted with desired chemical selectivity and functionality through the use of attached organic functional groups. However, verification of the surface population of the self-assembled monolayers that have attached to the surface is essential for further applications of these materials as components of sorbents and sensors. TGA should provide this information in the determination of the amount of oganic versus inorganic components in the synthesized multi-scale nanostructured materials.
