XRD Analysis of Cr(VI) Products from Waste Sites

EMSL Project ID
2100

Abstract

Hexavalent chromium is an important environmental contaminant at Hanford and numerous other federal and private waste sites. Identification of any solid Cr(VI) product associated with waste site soils is important in understanding transport characteristics in the environment, since this could provide information regarding solubility controls. The author has various samples from waste sites that appear to contain solid Cr(VI) products and believes that identification of these products is possible by x-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis.
