Scanning Electron Microscopy of Granular Iron Metal Exposed to Carbonate

EMSL Project ID
2251

Abstract

Abstract

We have a data set on the kinetics of reduction of 1,1,1-trichloroethane by granular iron metal that shows dramatic effects of exposure to carbonate buffer. To complete a manuscript on these results, which will soon be submitted to Enviromental Science and Technology, we would like to get SEMs that show the expected pitting due to carbonate enhanced corrosion over the short term, and passivation due to precipitation of siderite over the long term.
