Investigations of host-pathogen interactions and cellular structures with cryo-electron microscopy

EMSL Project ID
50758

Abstract

The Wright laboratory uses cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) and cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) to study biological problems in structural cell biology and infectious disease. We are particularly interested in the exploration of complex structure-function questions that govern host-pathogen dynamics; we use several model bacterial and viral systems to accomplish our research aims. To improve our capacity to examine specific biological targets, we also develop methods and technologies for cryo-EM and for bridging between other structural biology and molecular biology approaches.
