COVID-19: Structural analysis of SARS-CoV-2 proteins to understand virus immunogenicity and develop therapeutic interventions for COVID19

EMSL Project ID
51568

Abstract

Effective and rapid responses to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic must involve vaccination, therapies and serology. Our laboratory has the required expertise to produce and manage significant volumes of survivor antibodies and SARS-CoV-2 proteins for the determination of structures of critical SARS-CoV-2 proteins both alone and in complex with antibodies. Our proposed research and training approach combine our expanding in-house expertise in cryo-electron microscopy with our established experience in protein structure determination by X-ray crystallography, antibody discovery and antibody engineering. We seek additional microscope time and training for our personnel to increase our efficiency and productivity in light of the urgent need for structural information that will be critical to design therapeutic interventions for COVID-19.
