Growth of vanadium oxides on anatase TiO2 (001)
EMSL Project ID
5990
Abstract
Anatase TiO2 (001) has been grown on LaAlO3 (001) by using oxygen plasma assisted MBE. About 30nm vanadium oxide was also deposited on anatase TiO2 (001) surface in O2 plasma environment. XPS/UPS results are showing that the vanadium is in V4+ oxidation state. While the LEED/RHEED results are showing that the added VO2 layers have same surface lattice structure as that of anatase TiO2 (001). The XRD result shows that the out-of-plan lattice constant of VO2 layers is same as that of VO2 (B), which is one of the VO2 polymorphs. The possible explanation is that the VO2 lattice is deformed to match the anatase TiO2 (001) substrate. Therefore it is proposed to use HRTEM to study the VO2/anatase TiO2(001) interface.
