Study of the Network Structures of Polymer-Derived Amorphous SiAlCN Ceramics

EMSL Project ID
10490

Abstract

In this proposal, we propose to use NMR to study the network structures of polymer-derived amorphous AlSiCN. The SiAlCN are promising to be used as structural materials for next generation gas turbines and other high temperature applications due to their excellent oxidation and hot-corrosion resistance. Fundamental understanding their network, which is important for understanding of structure-property relationships of this new class of materials, and thus form scientific basis for rational use of the materials.
