Routine SEM analysis of lysed Bacillus spores

EMSL Project ID
10795

Abstract

The research included in this proposal involves the routine SEM analysis of Bacillus thuringiensis and Bacillus atrophaeus spores. SEM analysis will allow us to determine the extent of physical damage caused to the spores following various lysis techniques. The treated samples will need to be compared to untreated, intact spores in order to determine the efficacy of the lysis technique. Usage of the instrument would be light, with a typical sample set taking between 2 and 4 hours with approximately 2 samples 2-4 times a month.
