Gas phase Halogen detection in ambient air

EMSL Project ID
1635

Abstract

Experiments are underway to examine halogen formation in aqueous NaCl/NaBr/HNO3/O3 solutions. Air containing ozone is sent through an aqueous solution and chemistry occurs whereby the effluent gas is thought to contain Cl2 or Br2. Ambient pressure ion-trap mass spectroscopy will be used to monitor halogen formation.
