Analyze Glass Samples Using Scanning Electron Microscopy

EMSL Project ID
1774

Abstract

Mr. Young will analyze unique samples of simulated radioactive glass of low activity type waste that would be found at the Hanford tank farms. He will use the SEM?EDS system to look at glass sample surfaces that have been corroded by high temperature and pressure during vapor hydration tests. Secondary reaction products are found on the surface of the samples and need SEM analysis to determine characteristics of materials and chemical composition.
