Characterization of Gold Nanoparticles by FTICR MS/MS

EMSL Project ID
1792

Abstract

Gold nano particles have become the subject of great interest due to their unique physical properties which lend them to a wide variety of potential applications such as sensors, optical switches, nanoelectronic devices, and biochemical tagging reagents. One problem in creating such matericals is in the ability to control the particle's core size and structure. Investigating new synthetic techniques requires thorough characterization of the resulting nanoparticles. With the help of FTICR MS/MS techniques we can eamine the structure in order to characterize these gold nanoparticles.
