Investigations of a water doser for UHV ice studies

EMSL Project ID
2050

Abstract

We want to look at ice in a UHV system. We have designed and built a water vapour transport system for ultra high vacuum. We need to test the ice that is deposited on a substrate with our deposition system. We need to look at the flatness and reproducability of the surface in addition to looking at the actual properties of ice around 140K. Our long range goal is to look at surface diffusion of ice. We are checking the molecular dynamical calculations of Hannes Jonnson's group at the University of Washington. This project is funded in part by the nanotechnology center at the University of Washington and in part by the KDI fund.
