Location and interactions of vanadium-containing probes in a model membrane system

We propose to study the properties of a model lipid membranes and their interactions with vanadium transition metal complexes as a model for how insulin like transition metal complexes interact with membranes and facilitate lipid rearrangements. Specifically, we propose to carry out experiments that determine where specific compounds are located, and how they modify membrane rearrangements using 1D multinuclear NMR and 2D 1H NOESY spectroscopy.
