Infrared spectral features and their relationship to glass dissolution behavior

EMSL Project ID
2181

Abstract

This project will collect broadband specular reflectance infrared spectra from well characterized glass samples prepared for another project (EMSP). The spectra will be deconvolved via application of the Kramers Kronig relations to obtain peak intensities proportional to the induced dipole moment derrivative of the normal mode vibrations. These intensities will be correlated to other techniques which probe the structure of glass and are associated with dissolution phenomena.
