Mass Determination of Cyclic Siloxane

EMSL Project ID
2255

Abstract

A presumed cyclic siloxane has been isolated from the polymerization of a phenolic diallyl compound and silane hydride under catalytic hydrosilylation conditions. This type of cyclic component is present throughout most polymerizations of this type and hinders the achievement of higher molecular weight polymers. Identification of the cyclic siloxane would help toward establishing the mechanism by which this competitive component is being produced. This work would contribute to improvingt oligomerization/polymerization reactions used for photopatterning research currently underway at EMSL.
