Investigation of hydrogen tunneling in tropolone

EMSL Project ID
2371

Abstract

The purpose of the proposed high resolution study is to determine how much detail occures at 0.0015 cm-1 resolution and what it means concerning the several vibrational transitions underlying most absorption regions in tropolone. All of the vibrations are doubled by tunneling. There are anharmonic resonance retworks comprised of fundamental, overtone, and combination transitions throughout the vibrational spectrum. As a minimum goal, it is desired to identify transitions and learn their gas phase band origins.
