Accuate size measurement of bacterium SAR-11

EMSL Project ID
2379

Abstract

SAR-11 appears to be the dominant microorganism in the upper ocean, and is one of the smallest bacteria. The objective is to obtain an exact measurement of its size, without producing artifacts during sample preparation, using the current EMSL environmental scanning electron microscope.
