Fluorescence Imaging of Tobacco Cells

EMSL Project ID
24790a

Abstract

We will explore to use the single molecule fluorescence microscopy in EMSL for our biomass core research and development (core R&D) program. We have prepared the model plant cells-tobacco culture cells for the purpose to examine the subcellular structures. With the staining cell wall binding dye calcofluor, the cell wall structure of tobacco cells will be studied under fluorescence microscopy. All those efforts will provide us fundamental information for final transformation of the lignocellulosic biomass into building block chemicals and fuels.

These new data are required for a DOE-OBER proposal now being written and submitted in March 2007. Thus the need for rapid access.
