Long Term Monitoring of Permeable Reactive Barriers

EMSL Project ID
2559

Abstract

The objectives are to evaluate the long-termperformance of PRBs (Fe0) and develope a proper monitoring plan. The reseacrh work include the investigation on numbers of existing PRBs (Fe0) and laboratory column experiment. Geochemistry and hydrological models are also used as a tool to predict the perfromace of the PRB. At this moment, we are conducting the mineralogical study using XRD and SEM and would like to use the TGA MS to characterize and quantify the corrosion products and precipitants collected from the iron filing. The contribution from EMSL especially on the interpretation of result and the sharing of expertise wil be very beneficial for the project.
