Random Automobile Selection System

EMSL Project ID
2627

Abstract

Development of a system to randomly select a fraction of vehicles entering the Energy Northwest Nuclear facility. The selected vehicles will be searched and the system will allow the security officers to record the vehicle license number. The system will have three input buttons: 1.) Random, this button will select a user definable percentage of vehicles to be searched. 2.) Search, this button will force the selection of the current vehicles for inspection. 3.) Visitor, this button will flag the vehicle as a visitor and force it for inspection. Two indicator lights will signal the selection to the officer and the driver of the vehicle. All data will be saved in a log file and a new file will be created every day. The data will include the date and time for every vehicle and the license plate numbers for all inspected vehicles.
