Linking Microscopic to Macroscopic Adsorption/Desorption Behavior for Uranium on Environmental Materials

Abstract

This Science Theme proposal requests EMSL access for a subtask on an existing funded project at PNNL. The task is focused on determination of molecular-scale adsorption, desorption,
and precipitation reactions of U(VI)aq species on single crystal faces of quartz (α-SiO2) and hematite (α-Fe2O3). U(VI) concentrations will be well below approved volumetrically released levels for EMSL entry. We request "Standard Access" under the Geochemistry/Biogeochemistry and Subsurface Science Theme.
