Energy Smart Data Center

EMSL Project ID
30998

Abstract

Two tasks will run under this project:

1) NNSA: Current trends in computing and data storage are moving towards faster, smaller computers while increasing the density of the packaging. This SOW will demonstrate the feasibility of a supercomputer cluster equipped with the latest generation of SprayCoolTM spot-cooling in order to foster the adoption of advanced cooling solutions at a data center scale. The demonstration will encompass development of novel thermal management solutions for the supercomputer cluster as well as characterization and analysis of the cluster in its facility environment.

2) EERE: The proposed project is aimed at advancing the EEREs Data Center Market Transformation Program. To this end, PNNL proposes to make available to the EERE, the state-of-the-art ESDC-TBF. In addition, PNNL proposes to undertake a number of additional activities that fit directly into the mission of the EEREs Data Center Market Transformation Program.
