Background signal studies with PTR-MS
EMSL Project ID
3270
Abstract
In some of our ambient measurement studies with the PTR-MS, acetaldehyde and some of the other polar oxygenated organics have shown unexpected high concentrations. Since the PTR-MS can have mass interferences from non-target compounds, we intend to try to determine haw important these interferences might be. We will scrub the low molecular weight polar (water soluble) species with a mist chamber placed ahead of the PTR-MS inlet. This should remove all of the acetaldehyde and allow us to evaluate the magnitude of remaining signal.
