Scanning probe microscope observation of anatase TiO2 films
EMSL Project ID
3370
Abstract
Anatase TiO2 is an important material for photo- and magneto-functional applications. Little is known on the structure and reactivity of its surfaces, whereas another popymorph of TiO2 (rutile) has been extensively studied by surface scientific methods. In this proposed collaboartion, singlecrystalline films of anatase are grown by Scott Chambers at PNNL, and observed by scanning tunneling and non-contact atomic force microscopes at KAST in Japan. Atomistic structures of films with and without Co-dopant will be evalated.
