Abstract
Study of Catalytic Properties of Atomic Gold in PolyanilineProject Lead: Mira Josowicz, Ph.D
Project Lead Institution: Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia Tech Research Corporation
Abstract
Previous research done in our Group in collaboration with the PNNL scientists, Don Baer and Mark Engelhard, has shown that polyaniline (PANI) can be used as a matrix for formation of Au clusters. By a tight control of the electrochemical experiment it is possible to prepare these clusters by stepwise, atom-by-atom procedure. The proposed work done at the EMSL will involve characterization of these materials by HR XPS and possibly by laser ablation MS. This project is part of a broader, NSF funded work done at the Georgia Tech. If successful this project could lead to development of a proposal in the new generation of selective catalysis in the gas phase and in the area of electrocatalysis in the liquid phase.
