Intermediate-scale Experiments to Test a Novel Vapor-phase Tomography Method

EMSL Project ID
42792

Abstract

The objective of this experimental study, funded by the DOE Office of Groundwater and Soil Remediation (EM-32), is to evaluate a new vapor-phase tomography method by conducting a series of intermediate-scale experiments. The tomography method is adapted from techniques currently used to locate contaminant source zones in the saturated zone and to investigate the effects of heterogeneity of contaminant transport. The flow cell experiments will support ongoing field work related to the carbon tetrachloride vadose zone contamination at the Hanford Site.
