Experimental support for Green Grid Proxies

Abstract
Scope: The goal of this project is to run experiments with the Green Grid industrial consortium within the Energy Smart Data Center (EMSL 1125) facility and provide experimental data to the Green Grid. The objectives of this study are to execute a set of experiments to test and measure the ease-of-use and accuracy of the 8 productivity proxy proposals identified in The Green Grid (www.thegreengrid.org) white paper #17: "Proxy Proposals for measuring data center productivity". Assumptions: The tasks are primarily related to the design, execution, summarization of data, and documentation of experimental environment for the Green Grid. The experiments are anticipated to be similar in nature to previous experiments run within the ESDC, so existing collection and summarization software frameworks will be used. Deliverables: The primary deliverables are input into the experimental design, support for the execution of the experiments on ESDC hardware, the resulting data and summarization in a format suitable for analysis, and documentation that describes the experimental environment.
