Chromatographic Partitioning of Impure CO2 during Injection and Redistribution at the Pore Scale

EMSL Project ID
47630

Abstract

In this project, we propose to conduct a series of pore network laboratory experiments to study the fate and transport of gaseous mixtures in model saline aquifer systems during injection of the mixtures and subsequent chromatographic redistribution. This is the first attempt to investigate the behavior of CO2 mixed with various impurities including N2, O2, and H2S at multiple scales at the pore scale, and the results will provide valuable insights and guidance for gas mixture co-sequestration.
