Intermediate Flow Cells (PNNL SCOPE #28662)

EMSL Project ID
5398

Abstract

I need the ion chromatograph for analysis of solutions of an intermediate-scale flow cell bio-stimulation experiment. The experiment used porous sand media with lenticular shaped inclusions of differing hydraulic conductivity to create a heterogeneous flow path. CN-32 bacteria growth was stimulated using lactate in the presence of nitrate as a food substrate. The CN-32 bacteria consumed lactate and available oxygen. The added nitrate may have been reduced to nitrite. By sampling at different areas of the flow cell, the rates of oxygen consumption, lactate consumption, and nitrate reduction will be compared.
