Multinuclear NMR Studies of Energy Systems and Beyond

EMSL Project ID
60256

Abstract

My research team at PNNL carries out studies that utilize high-resolution nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to attack areas of national need. The research projects include scientific explorations in energy storage and materials synthesis. The proposed research on two resource-owned NMR instruments will advance and accelerate the research goals of multiple energy-related projects at PNNL and leverage advances made by members of the team in the development and use of unique NMR probes and experiments at EMSL. The programs that will be primary users of these spectrometers are the Joint Center for Energy Storage Research (JCESR; Karl Mueller, PNNL Lead PI), an Energy Innovation Hub supported by DOE and led by Argonne National Laboratory (George Crabtree, PI) and Nucleation and Self-assembly of Hierarchical Materials (Jim De Yoreo, PI) supported by BES/MSE Synthesis and Processing Science Program.
