Improving the Robustness and Longevity of Methanothermobacter wolfeii strain BSEL when Converting Biogas with Hydrogen to Renewable Natural Gas

EMSL Project ID
60831

Abstract

This resource owner proposal will measure the proteome responses of Methanothermobacter wolfeii strain BSEL wild type, and adaptive laboratory evolution developed mutants to different perturbations (O2 contamination, temperature changes, and starvation). These perturbations have been observed to potentially hinder this archaea’s long-term capacity to perform efficient gas fermentation in a Biogas-to-Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) bioreactor. This aim is part of a large 3-year project recently funded by DOE EERE to WSU Tri-Cities (Prime) and PNNL (via subcontract).
