Photophysics of organophosphorous compounds (PNNL LDRD Project: Synchrontron X-ray Spectroscopy of Novel Organic Diphosphine, WP# F47177)

EMSL Project ID
8209

Abstract

The current project involves the development of organophosphorus compounds for solid-state lighting applications. Since both photoluminescence and electroluminescence occurs from the same state, comprehensive understanding of photophysical properties of these materials are necessary. We propose to study the fluorescence properties [emission wavelength (300-500 nm), quantum yields, and lifetimes (~ns)] in solution and in solid state films. Low temperature experiments (77K) are also required for measuring phosphorescence emission and lifetimes (ms).
