Abstract
Formation of uranium solids are being investigated with respect to Portland Cement/Pulverized Fly Ash grout materials. In-situ precipitation experiments were conducted by doping a mixture of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC)/ Pulverized Fly Ash (PFA, fly ash) grout with 10-3 and 10-1 M aqueous uranium concentrations. Analyses of concrete samples will be conducted by SEM-EDS, and IR to characterize and identify the uranyl-mineral formations. The results illustrate the paragenetic sequence of uranium-mineral stability commonly exhibit within natural ore deposits, highlight the importance of trace elements on uranium geochemistry, and demonstrate the significance of in-situ studies for understanding uranium geochemistry.
