Determination of Iron Speciation in H2S Treated Sediment

EMSL Project ID
1738

Abstract

Research is being conducted to determine the effectiveness of H2S treatment of vadose zone sediments as a method to treat reducible contaminants such as chromate, in situ. We have conducted two long term (months) column experiments in which sediment was treated with H2S to determine how much H2S would be consumed by iron oxides in the soil and the reaction rates.
