Fundamental Studies of Monolayer-Protected Nanoparticles by Gas Chromatography

EMSL Project ID
2482

Abstract

As part of the JIN Award 2002, wil be working with Jay Grate and Dave Nelson to study MPN materials in more detail to understand on a fundamental level their sorptive properties, and to explore a wide range of hemical sensing layers. Specifically, gas crhomatrography will be used to characterize gold MPNs. GC retention time will be related to thermodynamic properties, while the band broadening observed in the GC data will be readily related to the mass transfer characteristics of MPNs.
