Global Cloud Resolving Model: Benchmarking, Data Access, and Model Testing

EMSL Project ID
25621

Abstract

This EMSL Science Theme proposal is targeting use of the EMSL MPP2 cluster, Lustre file system, and visualization server to support the recently funded SciDAC proposal Community Access to Global Cloud Resolving Model Data and Analyses. This work is being performed in conjunction with the SciDAC project Design and Testing of a Global Cloud Resolving Model, led by Professor Randall at Colorado State University. This proposal is being submitted under the Atmospheric Aerosol Chemistry theme. The work consists of several tasks requiring use of high performance systems including: development of an IO strategy for a very high resolution global climate model, development of high performance data subsetting and analysis tools, and initial development and test of the model itself.
