Growth Media Component Peptide and Carbohydrate Analysis

EMSL Project ID
29596

Abstract

The objective of this project is to utilize resource instrumentation to develop and characterize a method to detect residual peptides from growth media in the final bacterial samples for bioforensics methods development. Digested or peptide extracted samples will be prepared and delivered to the EMSL High Performance Mass Spectrometry facility to perform peptide mass fingerprinting by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry and tandem mass spectrometry. The output data will be searched against a peptide database such as Mascot or Sequest to determine peptide information present in the samples. The results will be published
