Abstract

The CASMGS Consortium will provide the information and technology necessary to develop, analyze and implement carbon sequestration strategies.

The United States Department of Agriculture is supporting work conducted by the Consortium for Agricultural Soils Mitigation of Greenhouse Gases (CASMGS). The consortium conducts basic and applied research on (a) basic processes and mechanisms of soil carbon sequestration, (b) identification of Best Management Practices in relation to soil carbon sequestration, (c) prediction and assessment methods, (d) monitoring and verification, and (e) outreach. Assumptions The client (Kansas State University/U.S. Department of Agriculture) expects us to conduct fundamental research to further our knowledge in areas of importance to the USDA's mission, and to disseminate this knowledge through publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations of results at scientific meetings.
