Biomarker development for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

EMSL Project ID
14093

Abstract

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) is a common chronic disease effecting a significant portion of humans, particularly those that smoke. The goal of this work is to develop a reliable animal model that can be used to study the disease. For this we will conduct proteome analysis to identify new biomarkers that can be used to monitor the disease. These studies will use samples from mouse lung and bronchial lavage fluid. We expect to identify and quantify changes in proteins that are indicative of the onset and progression of COPD.
