Abstract

Recent research has shown that bacterial invasion by phage, detected via CRISPR inserts, increases with increasing osmotic stress. We seek access to EMSL computing resources to explore existing metagenomes, developed from soils subjected to laboratory droughts and saturation - conditions that cause significant shifts in localized salinity - to seek similar evidence of increased viral activity in stressed soils.
