High Confidence Characterization of Organohalogen & Organometallic Compounds by Orthogonal LC-ICP and LC-HR Mass Spectrometry

EMSL Project ID
60081

Abstract

Interactions between metals, halogens, and other elements are critical regulators of organic matter transport, persistence, and toxicity. Still, they remain poorly characterized due to the samples' highly complex nature and the incomplete resolution of features detected from modern analytical platforms. Therefore, this work aims to enable highly confident characterization of organohalogen and organometallic compounds in complex mixtures by integration of liquid chromatography (LC) coupled to inductively coupled plasma (ICP) and high resolution (HR) mass spectrometry data. Thus, providing a more comprehensive window into chemical speciation than ever before.
