The National Microbiome Data Collaborative: improving metaproteomics methods and processing capabilities

We will improve and streamline the metaproteomics analysis workflow used by both EMSL and the NMDC. Generating gold-standard proteomics data will support algorithmic improvements for the inference of protein presence and abundance from peptide-level mass spectrometry data, and streamlining the metagenome curation prior to proteomics data processing will constrain the search space used for peak matching.
