Development of Novel Approaches for Analysis of Secondary Organic Aerosols
Using High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry.
EMSL Project ID
34503
Abstract
The objective of the proposed research is to develop new approaches for advanced detailedcharacterization of the chemical composition of organic aerosols (OA) that will enable a fundamental understanding
of the aging and reaction chemistry of aerosol particles pertinent to atmospheric environment. Specifically, we will
develop new analytical approaches for obtaining molecular-level understanding of the chemical composition of OA
and its atmospheric evolution using state-of-the-art high-resolution mass spectrometry and novel atmospheric
pressure surface ionization techniques that will enable characterization of aerosol samples collected on substrates
under ambient conditions.
