Abstract

Our work in the last period has advanced a number of projects, two of which are currently in different stages of publication. In addition, we have gained considerable experience in the operation of both the 750MHz and 800MHz spectrometers for solid state NMR. Most recently we have been successful in implementing Al27 P31 coherence transfer refocused INEPT experiments which make possible the assignment of connectivities in the solid state. We have constructed three robust MAS probes; one for MAS and MQMAS on the narrow bore 750MHz system and two for the medium bore 800MHz system. The probes for the 800MHz system are capable of double resonance coherence transfer experiments and are currently tuned for Al27/P31 and Al27/Si29. In future work we plan to extend these existing projects and to introduce new ones. The experience we have gained makes it possible to reliably judge the gains which will accrue from the high field strengths available at the PNNL.
