Course in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

EMSL Project ID
24995

Abstract

This activity involves use of selected EMSL capabilities as one component in a course on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. The course is to be held in EMSL where 50% of the time is devoted to lectures and 50% of the time would be devoted to small student projects that provide students an introduction to research at a National User Facility and hands on introduction to some of the capabilties in EMSL. Since 2002 the University of Washington, Washington State University and PNNL have cooperated in the development and delivery of a series of nanotechnology related courses, partially funded by an NSF grant. These courses have been sufficiently popular that for the last two years each class has been filled to capacity. This proposal involves continuation of these courses and includes support of various types from the University of Washington, Washington State University, and EMSL.
